CHALLENGE
The customer had a modulating fail open actuator requirement for a 12” 300# high performance butterfly valve, but other scotch yoke type actuators couldn’t meet the valve torque requirements without exceeding the valve MAST (Max. Allowable Stem Torque).
SOLUTION
FD2488SR16-S2 actuator was selected based on the torque characteristics that met the valves torque profile, and the modulating performance capabilities.
RESULTS
This control valve package was delivered to the customer earlier, providing the end user with the performance confidence they expect, without concern of damaging the valve stem.
